U.S. visa support for Canadians
ready for what’s next.
Hypothetical example: an industrial engineer at a packaging plant in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures is asked to spend eighteen months improving throughput at the company's American sister plant, and in the same month a former colleague invites her husband to buy a share of a trucking terminal across the border. Two people, two organizations and two kinds of money are involved. The household's first task is to describe each proposal on its own page, name who would employ or pay whom, and stop treating the two as one relocation decision.
The routes this site covers answer different questions. TN asks whether a Canadian citizen has prearranged professional work in a listed occupation. L-1A and L-1B ask whether a person with a year of qualifying employment abroad is moving within a corporate group into a managerial, executive or specialized-knowledge role. E-2 asks whether a treaty national has committed substantial capital to a real enterprise that person will direct. EB-5 asks about qualifying capital and ten jobs. Gold Card is a gift-based framework with its own official terms. A Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures household may have facts relevant to more than one route, and the useful work is finding which questions each proposal can actually answer.
Choose what brings you here. Leave with a short list of things to discuss—not another long form to fill out.
A title from an internal transfer memo tells a reviewer very little.

Write down the facts before the categories. For the engineer, that means the current employer's legal name, the U.S. entity's legal name, the ownership link between them, her degree and licence, and the duties on the proposed assignment letter. For the terminal buy-in, it means the shareholder agreement, the amount to be paid, where that money sits today and who would run the business day to day. A page of confirmed facts with gaps marked is more valuable to a reviewer than a category chosen from a job title.

Personal support.
A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.
For every opportunity, list the person who would do the work, the organization that would pay, and the organization that would direct the work. Those three answers rarely line up the way the first email suggested.
A degree claim needs a transcript, a year of employment needs payroll records, an ownership claim needs the register or share ledger. Where no record exists yet, write the gap down rather than the assumption.
Check the engineering assignment against TN or L-1 conditions and the terminal share against E-2 conditions separately. Include the spouse's remote work and any child's schooling as their own items.
Order the lease, the share purchase, the assignment letter and the travel booking by what each one makes irreversible. Nothing that cannot be undone should precede the eligibility review.
The household does not need to arrive with a route chosen or a lawyer's memo in hand. Bring the assignment letter, the shareholder proposal and a plain statement of what the family wants to happen in two years. The review will separate an employment question from an investment question and show where a fact is missing or a date is being assumed.
Find your pathwayConsultations for Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures residents are remote. Send a short description of each proposal and the questions you want answered, and ask what the review covers before forwarding a full file. Immigration eligibility, the commercial soundness of a terminal buy-in and the tax treatment of an assignment abroad are different specialties, and it is normal to need more than one adviser.
Let’s connectArrange a remote consultation to discuss your next steps.
No. They involve different people, different organizations and different legal tests. Each is reviewed on its own facts, and the results are then placed on one household timeline.
The sector does not change the law. It changes the evidence: an engineer's degree and licence for TN, the ownership chain between plants for L-1, or the operating records of a business being bought for E-2.
Not by default. Whether a spouse may work depends on that person's own status, not on the employer's location. TD dependants may not work; qualifying L-2 and E-2 spouses are employment-authorized incident to status.
Treat every proposed date as an assumption until eligibility, documents and process have been confirmed. Ask each counterparty what happens to the offer or the deal if that date moves.
