TN
That U.S. opportunity is worth a conversation. Explore professional work through the TN pathway.
For the next job. The bold idea. The life you can already picture.
U.S. visa support for Canadians
ready for what’s next.
Hypothetical example: a Québec City resident works for the provincial government, has been approached about a transfer to a related private employer with U.S. operations, and is separately reviewing a proposal to invest in a small business near the border. Comparing the three requires three separate factual accounts, not a single plan built from whichever term sounds most attractive.
Six routes are commonly relevant: TN for listed professional employment, L-1A for qualifying managerial or executive transfers, L-1B for specialized-knowledge transfers, E-2 for treaty investment, EB-5 for qualifying immigrant investment, and Gold Card for its current gift-based framework. Each asks a different combination of questions about citizenship, the employing or receiving organization, the work itself and the intended outcome.
Choose what brings you here. Leave with a short list of things to discuss—not another long form to fill out.
Start with the duties and the person who can confirm them.

Begin with the document that describes the opportunity itself: an offer letter, an internal transfer proposal, or a share purchase agreement. Note what it actually commits to, what remains open, and who can confirm any missing fact. Add credentials, employment records or funding history only once that first document is understood. The goal is an accurate file, not a persuasive one.

Personal support.
A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.
State what you would do in the United States, for which organization, and under whose direction. Keep a proposed role separate from work you already perform in Québec.
Match each fact that matters to a document, and identify who holds it if you do not. An assumption not yet supported by a record should stay visible as an assumption.
Review the route or routes that correspond to the real proposal, including any work or study plans for other household members and any unresolved eligibility question.
List legal filing steps, commercial conditions and personal deadlines together. Identify which decisions need further review before a document is signed, funds are transferred, or a move is booked.
A first conversation does not require a chosen category. Bring each proposal as its own description and explain the decision you are trying to make. An employment opportunity, a business purchase and a permanent-residence objective can each need different records and different professional advice.
Find your pathwayPrepare a short account of your Québec City-based plan and the specific questions you want reviewed. Confirm what a consultation covers and its scope before sending a complete file. Legal eligibility, business diligence and tax consequences are often separate specialties, and one adviser may not cover all three.
Let’s connectArrange a remote consultation to discuss your next steps.
No. A clear description of the actual opportunity and the records available lets a reviewer identify which route-specific questions still need answers.
No. The employer's nature affects the facts to document, not the underlying legal requirements. TN, L-1, E-2, EB-5 and Gold Card each have their own citizenship, ownership or investment conditions that apply regardless of the applicant's home-province employer.
Include everyone, but review each person's work, study and status separately. Dependent status does not automatically grant the same permissions to everyone in the household.
Treat it as a planning target until the eligibility, evidence and process have actually been reviewed. Ask what the offer allows if that date changes.
