Government filing fees for the immigrant petition, the residence application for each family member, and the later petition to remove conditions, all listed in the USCIS fee schedule; plus regional-center administrative fees, legal, accounting and translation costs. The investment amount is only the largest line.
Budget the fees per person and per stage
EB-5 costs arrive in three stages and should be tallied that way. At filing, the investor pays the immigrant petition fee set in the USCIS fee schedule, which is substantially higher than most employment petitions, and a regional-center project ordinarily charges an administrative fee on top of the investment amount that is not returned. At the residence stage, each family member pays either the consular immigrant visa fee and the immigrant fee, or the adjustment-of-status fee if applying inside the United States, so a family of four pays four sets.
At the two-year point, the petition to remove conditions carries its own fee, which covers the investor and derivatives together. Hypothetical example: a Lac-Beauport household models the case as the investment plus one fee and is surprised that the fees and administrative charges for a family of four exceed the cost of a small car.
